Election Night Results Updates
Election Night Results Reporting in Johnson County, Kansas
When our 167 polling locations close at 7:00 p.m. tonight, we will begin the process of reporting unofficial results for the primary election.
The first results will be released at approximately 7:30 p.m. and will include votes cast at the Election Office’s seven advance voting locations and mail ballots already returned to the Election Office.
As votes cast at Election Day polling locations are returned to the Election Office and tabulated, results will be updated periodically until all precincts are reporting.
Kansas law allows mail ballots postmarked on Election Day to be counted through Friday. Ballots can also be returned to Election Day polling locations until 7:00 p.m. Those ballots will be counted after Election Day.
106,000 ballots were mailed to Johnson County voters for the primary election. There could be a significant number of ballots received and counted after Election Day. If there are close races, those ballots could make the difference.
Additional results updates will be released on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings.
Provisional ballots will be counted when the canvass for the primary election begins on Wednesday, August 12.
Results will be certified when the canvass ends on Thursday, August 13. Official final results will be available after the canvass.
NOTE: To expedite results in other contests, results for precinct committeeman and precinct committeewoman contests will not be released until tomorrow, August 5.
